Prepared Food

Vendors who are producers of prepared foods in which the ingredients have been altered from their original state, including but not limited to bread, preserves, sweet treats or prepackaged snacks.

Vendors fall into two categories: Lower Risk or Higher Risk as defined by BC Centre for Disease Control. For more information on food safety at the Squamish Farmers' Market and an outline of lower and higher risk foods, refer to the Guideline for the Sale of Foods at Temporary Food Markets document. Please confirm the status of your product with your Environmental Health Officer.

  • Lower Risk products must provide

    • Vendor Insurance

    • Food Safe or Market Safe certificate.

  • Higher Risk products must provide

    • Letter of Confirmation from their local Health Authority

    • FoodSafe Level 1 or MarketSafe certificate

    • Vendor Insurance.

Please review the BC Guidelines for Organic Certification Regulation regarding the use of the term "organic".

For The Jury Process:

You must provide a sample of a few of your products. After applying, you will receive an email with a drop-off location, date, and time.

  • Please provide clear labeling on your product, including your business name, the ingredients used (and where they were sourced if possible/relevant), if it needs to be stored in the fridge, freezer and any reheating/cooking instructions if applicable.

  • Without a sample your application will not progress and will be closed as incomplete. Samples do not have to be full bottles/jars/products, but must be enough for all three judges to be able to try them. We also do not need one of every product, we are looking for 2-3 items that you are known for.
