Squamish Economic Impact Study 2023

The Squamish Farmers’ Market is delighted to announce that it was part of the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) successful completion of a comprehensive province-wide study in collaboration with the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), shedding light on the substantial economic contributions made by farmers' markets in British Columbia. The study focused on various key factors, with particular attention given to the economic impact.

As the manager of the Squamish Farmers' Market, I am thrilled to see the positive impact our market has on the community and the broader region. These results underscore the vital role farmers' markets play local food stability as well as supporting local businesses, fostering community engagement, and driving economic growth. We extend our gratitude to the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets and the University of Northern British Columbia for their collaboration on this groundbreaking study.
