BC Fire Code Regulations for Mobile Vendors

There are new fire code regulations for mobile vendors as of 2019 that apply to

  • mobile food trucks

  • trailered units

  • food carts

  • any outdoor cooking process

All mobile food vendors across the Lower Mainland will be required to complete and pass an annual inspection PRIOR to operating. They will be required to display a decal indicating they have passed the inspection. Fire Prevention Officers are available to conduct these inspections every day of the week at the Squamish fire hall at 40439 Tantalus Road and can be booked by calling 604.898.9666.

  • All tents and fabrics for food producing vendors must be rated to the CSA/ULC S109 standards and have this marking on the factory label.

  • Each vendor engaged in a cooking process are now required to have a portable fire extinguisher on hand that is a minimum size 4-A:40-BC. This is an increase from the previous sizing.

  • Extra propane cylinders are now prohibited within a vendor space and must be stored in a lockable cage off market grounds.
